Calyx is a Registered Acupuncturist who takes inspiration from the patterns and seasons of nature. With one hand in the green world of plants, and the other hand turning the pages of the Huangdi Neijing (one of the foundational classical texts), Calyx Donna Kuprowski earned a Dual Diploma of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Acupuncture and Western Phytotherapy (Clinical Herbalism) from Pacific Rim College in Coast Salish Territory (Victoria, B.C.).
Therapeutic nature excursions with youth in addiction and mental health recovery, gave Calyx the experience to navigate the terrain of peoples’ significant challenges and life events. When change comes, whether through pain, fatigue, chronic conditions, or unanticipated emotions, it is helpful to have a collaborator who is skilled in observing, listening, asking questions, and applying knowledge. Calyx also has a bodywork background: Ayurvedic marma point massage, level one Jin Shin Do, basic Swedish effleurage techniques, as well as TCM meridian massage known as Tui Na.
Confidentiality and compassion are Calyx’s core values, while fostering an intelligent understanding of our strengths and wounds. Thr physiological processes, psychological and environmental factors that are contributing to your whole health picture are a cornerstone of her TCM diagnosis.
Acquiring knowledge through studying from an array of teachers and healing modalities, from trauma recovery to pulse diagnosis, and creative practices (B.FA., Emily Carr University of Art + Design) led Calyx to consider the treatment room an atmosphere where you can return home to your original nature (yuan benxing).
